SHORE EXCURSION IN NORWAY: SKJOLDEN
Skjolden is a popular tourist destination, not only because of the unique nature of the hills, with spectacular waterfalls, but also because of many natural attractions in the area. The harbor is surrounded by great mountains of Jotunheimen and Breheimen, and the Jostedal Glacier, the largest glacier of Europe.
The first visit will be to the Urnes Stave Church, a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. This Church is the oldest wooden church in Norway, built around 1130 AD, even if the distinctive engravings of the portal come from an even older church. Urnes Stave Church is an example of the traditional wooden architecture, with a design that includes features of Celtic, Viking and Romanesque style.
The combination of mountains in Skjolden also makes it a paradise for those who want to explore the beautiful Norwegian nature.
