IGOUMENITSA SHORE EXCURSIONS (METEORA)
Our shore excursion in Meteora is ony to visit the Monasteries. Meteora means 'suspended in mid-air'. In fact, the monasteries are built on rock formations, high and steep as towers, which rise up to 300 meters high. Their history began in the eleventh century, when the hermits retreated in these places, chosen for its tranquility and certainly its beauty. The monasteries reached its splendor in the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries, when they were twenty-four.
