SHORE EXCURSION IN MARSEILLE
Departing from the port by bus, we will head to Marseille (the ports of Toulon and Seyne sur Mer are about an hour from the city of Marseille), the second largest city in France after Paris and we will visit the most important sites: the Old Port (Vieux Port), of the Greek era, the Basilica of Notre Dame de la Garde, located on the highest point of the city, about 162 meters above sea level in the south of the Old Port.
The excursion will begin visiting this basilica of the nineteenth century, much loved by the people of Marseille, which also offers an exceptional view of Frioul islands and Château d'If.
We will continue our tour driving to the Vallon des Auffes and the Abbey of St. Victor (XI century), which is located at the entrance of the Vieux Port. Then we will take the Canebière, the main road through the historic center of Marseilles, to get up to the Palais Longchamp, where we will admire its beautiful fountain. We will have a little free time to visit the most authentic part of the town, called “Paquet”, taking a walk or doing some shopping (Provencal pottery is beautiful).
After the visit, we will came back to the port by bus for boarding.
