SHORE EXCURSION IN LISBOA
During our trip to Lisbon will try to learn more about this city. From the port by bus we will begin our shore excursion heading towards the Torre de Belem, built to be the lighthouse and fortress of the port of Restelo. From here, we will go with our coach to the heart of the city, where we will visit Rossio Square (in the Baixa , the "lower" part of the city) that is the most popular squares of Lisbon, in the center of which stands the stature of King Dom Pedro IV ( about 27 meters high, its base is adorned with four statues , representing the cardinal virtues attributed to King Dom Pedro: prudence , strength, temperance and justice). In the area, we will admire some buildings built by the will of the Marquis of Pombal. Then we will move and visit the Church of Santo Antonio, built in Baroque style and dating from the eighteenth century, the Gothic Cathedral located next door, and finally we will come to Miradouro do Alto Parque Eduardo VII. This belvedere will offer us the spectacle of the view of the entire city. We will continue our shore excursion heading towards the Monastero dos Jerónimos (external visit), declared World Heritage by UNESCO, that we will visit before descending through the narrow streets of Alfama and arrive at Praça do Comércio, on the bank of the river Tagus (Tejo in Portuguese).
We will then go to Bairro Alto, which will be the last leg of our shore excursion: once the district of rich families, the nineteenth district has taken on a split personality : on the one hand, the aristocratic families, on the other creative people, artists, restaurants and libraries that are the masters at weekends.
*Shore excursions could be subject to variations due to external causes as Cruise Companies politics, weather conditions, duration of the stay of the ship in the port, legal demonstrations
